Norges Bank announces appointment of academic to newly-created position

Egil Matsen was appointed as a second deputy governor at Norges Bank today (November 27) – a newly-created post with responsibility relating to the country's sovereign wealth fund.

Matsen, a macroeconomics and finance professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, has served on the central bank's executive board since 2010.

In a public statement finance minister Siv Jensen expressed his confidence in Matsen's abilities, suggesting his appointment would provide the central bank
