Riksbank critic becomes deputy governor
Henry Ohlsson replaces Karolina Ekholm at the Swedish central bank
A vocal critic of Sveriges Riksbank's monetary policy has been elected the central bank's next deputy governor.
Henry Ohlsson, a professor of economics at Uppsala University, will join the executive board on January 12 for a six-year term, the Riksbank's general council said today.
He replaces Karolina Ekholm, who left the central bank in November to become state secretary in Sweden's social democratic government, which has since collapsed and is facing new elections in March.
