ECB to publish unattributed ‘accounts’ of policy discussions

First accounts will detail discussion in crucial January 22 meeting

The European Central Bank (ECB) will publish "accounts" of its monetary policy discussions from January, but they will not reveal how individual governing council members voted.

The accounts will be released four weeks after each meeting. The council is set for a showdown on the contentious issue of sovereign bond purchases ‘early next year', meaning the first set of accounts, from the meeting on January 22, will be heavily scrutinised.

In a statement announcing the decision, the ECB said the
