BoE officials defend use of labour market data in policy-making

Treasury committee presses Carney on use of labour market data

Top officials at the Bank of England (BoE) today defended the central bank's use of labour market data in a hearing of the Treasury Select Committee.

BoE governor Mark Carney appeared at the hearing alongside deputy governor Jon Cunliffe and two other members of the monetary policy committee (MPC), Kristin Forbes and Ian McCafferty.

Pressed on whether labour market data sources were "outmoded" Cunliffe said: "We have a range of data sources, some are good... some we know they are much more
