Fed vice-chair gives ‘most comprehensive statement’ to date on external impact of policies

Stanley Fischer, the Federal Reserve vice-chair, yesterday gave what was quickly described as the "most comprehensive" statement from a Fed official to date on the international spillover from US monetary policy.

Giving the annual Per Jacobsson lecture at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings in Washington, DC, Fischer said the Fed "devotes significant resources to monitoring developments" abroad and the central bank had "better think about" how its policies affect other
