UK and Dutch central banks set out capital plans

UK's PRA issues policy statement on capital buffers

The Bank of England's Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) will have the power to impose additional capital buffers on systemically important institutions from 2016, according to a policy statement it published today.

The policy statement sets out the PRA's final plans for implementing the capital requirements imposed by European regulators, and follows the announcement from the Netherlands Bank that it too will impose higher requirements on its largest banks.

The Basel III accord was
