Bernanke dismisses talk of tightening

Ben Bernanke today insisted the Federal Reserve is not contemplating a tightening of monetary policy and that it will continue to support the economy "for the foreseeable future".

In the second day of his final testimony before US senators, the Fed chairman reiterated his point that although the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is considering when to taper and – eventually – to end its asset purchases, neither action will signal the end of its accommodative policy.

He insisted, on both days
