Former BoE deputy to review RBS SME lending practices

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed former Bank of England (BoE) deputy Andrew Large to head an independent review into lending practices at RBS and NatWest for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in co-operation with the management consultant firm Oliver Wyman.

The announcement of the review comes amid persistent weak lending from UK banks to businesses struggling in a tough economic climate. Small businesses have had a particularly hard time obtaining credit from risk-averse
