Iceland central bank closes last vault outside of Reykjavik
The Central Bank of Iceland (CBI) closed its last vault outside Reykjavik last Friday, as part of a wider review of the CBI's role in banknote distribution which saw the bank decide in 2003 to gradually wind down its regional vaults.
The CBI said it closed its vaults outside Reykjavík so as to "better define the roles and responsibilities" of the financial institutions that participate in banknote distribution around the country.
