Embattled Nigerian governor condemns corrupt leadership

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has demanded stronger political leadership to arrest what he described as Nigeria's gross economic underperformance. The move comes as Sanusi, who is well respected in international circles, has come under fire from a number of political opponents at home, most recently regarding the introduction of a 5,000 naira note.

In what appears to be a move to hit back at his opponents, Sanusi said in a speech published on October 23 that
