US regulators release capital estimation tools for community banks

The three main banking regulators in the US have released capital estimation tools for banks and savings associations aimed at helping them to better understand the effects that proposed new banking rules would have on their capital ratios.

The move by the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) comes a month before a public comment period on proposed new regulatory capital proposals expires on October 22.
