The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, today (April 12) said she hoped progress would be made at the IMF meetings next week towards agreeing an increase to Fund resources.

"I have been encouraged by the expressions of support from many of our member countries to increase our resources," said Lagarde. "I am hopeful that, during the upcoming Spring Meetings, we will make progress on this issue. We should seize the moment."
