Draghi places emphasis on governments to drive EU growth

European Central Bank (ECB) president Mario Draghi said today (April 4) that the drivers for European growth must now come from the policies pursued by sovereign governments rather than the central bank.

He was speaking at a press conference in Frankfurt following the ECB governing council's decision to leave the central bank's main policy interest rates unchanged. This means the interest rate on the ECB's main refinancing operations remains at 1%, while interest rates on its marginal lending
