Eurozone leaders hold emergency meeting in Cannes

European leaders held crisis talks on Wednesday ahead of a Group of 20 (G-20) meeting in Cannes, a day after the Greek cabinet backed prime minister George Papandreou's call for a referendum on the eurozone deal.

Greece is not a member of the club of 20 finance ministers and central bank governors that are expected to begin discussions on Thursday. However, the Greek prime minister was summoned to Cannes to meet French president Nicolas Sarkozy and German chancellor Angela Merkel after he won
