China banking regulator talks of reform ‘determination’

Liu Mingkang, chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, said at a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit on Wednesday that some rating agencies and analysts had underestimated the determination behind China's "deepening reforms".

In September, rating agency Fitch warned about the possibility of a downgrade in China's rating within two years as the country's banks struggle with debt loads following a lending surge to help lift the economy during the 2008 financial crisis.
