Bank considers further QE

Minutes from the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), published on Wednesday, threw wide open the debate for further quantitative easing in the UK.

Minutes from the June 8 and 9 meeting shows that some members of the committee felt the current weakness of demand growth in the UK was likely to persist for "longer than previously thought" and that further asset purchases "might become warranted" if the downside risks to medium-term inflation materialised.
