Fund completes gold sales
The IMF said Tuesday that it had completed the sale of 403.3 metric tonnes of gold, drawing the process, which was approved by its executive board last September, to a close.
The Fund embarked on the sales with the objective of boosting its capacity to lend to low-income countries, acting on the recommendation of the January 2007 Crockett Report, which set out a strategy for sustainable long-term financing.
