Sarb refutes faulty rand note claims

The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) on Monday said it had no reason to believe that the integrity of the country's banknotes have been compromised, following media reports that faulty R100 ($14.5) were issued earlier in the year.

The Sunday Times, a Johannesburg-based weekend paper, reported Sunday that the South African Bank Note Company, the arm of the Sarb responsible for banknote production, had circulated "large quantities" of defective R100 notes and that the flaws were unearthed in May
