IMF resumes financial aid to Ukraine

The Ukraine received a $14.9 billion boost from the IMF on Saturday after it agreed to grant the cash-strapped nation a loan only eight months after it suspended its aid facility.

At a meeting in Kiev, Thanos Arvanitis, the IMF mission chief for the Ukraine, said an agreement had been reached between the IMF and Ukrainian officials to provide SDR10 billion (US$14.9 billion) over two and half years as part of an IMF standby arrangement.
