Central bankers split on raising inflation targets: poll
The controversial suggestion from Oliver Blanchard, the IMF chief economist, that inflation targets could do with being raised from 2% to 4%, has split central bankers, according to a CentralBanking.com poll.
Respondents who thought the notion was either "ridiculous" or "irresponsible" accounted for 51.8% of the votes cast. However, 36.6% thought the idea was at least "worth considering", giving that option the single largest vote share. A further 7.1% thought it "absolutely right."
