Fernández’s central bank raid finally succeeds

After months of trying, Argentina's President Cristina Fernández has at last managed to prise open the central bank's coffers after a new tack to secure reserves to repay the country's creditors succeeded.

She succeeded by issuing two decrees; one a common decree to secure $2.2 billion to be used for 2010 multilateral debt service, the other a $4.4 billion emergency decree to fund 2010 debt payments to private creditors.
