SNB will intervene to control franc: Hildebrand

Philipp Hildebrand, the new chairman of the Swiss National Bank's (SNB) governing board, said on Monday that the central bank was watching the franc very closely. In his first official comments since taking over at the helm of the SNB, Hildebrand indicated that the central bank would intervene if the franc continued gaining in strength.

"The SNB will continue to prevent any excessive appreciation of the Swiss franc against the euro," he said, in an unscheduled statement confirmed by the central
