Bank balances set to stay above pre-crisis levels: Fisher

Paul Fisher, the Bank of England's executive director for markets, said on Thursday that he expects the central bank's balance sheet to remain above its pre-crisis level.

The size of the Bank's balance sheet has risen from about 4% of nominal GDP before the crisis to more than 16%. Fisher said the balance sheet was likely to fall from its pre-crisis levels as the Bank began selling assets back to the market as funding conditions ease.

However, Fisher said the balance sheet was set to remain
