Romania cuts by 50 basis points

The National Bank of Romania's board decided on Tuesday to cut its monetary policy rate to 8.5% from 9.0%.

The board also chose to lower the minimum reserve requirements ratio on foreign-currency denominated liabilities with maturities of up to two years to 30% from 35% from 24 August to 23 September.

The board also said the central bank would actively use open-market operations to ensure an adequate management of liquidity in the banking system and reduce the maturity of repo operations from? a
