Bank stats show quantitative easing having little impact

The Bank of England's quantitative-easing programme appears to be failing in its bid to pump money into the British economy, data reveal.

Data released Wednesday showed that the broad money measure that the Bank is targeting, M4 excluding intermediate other financial companies, fell by 0.6% in the month to June despite the central bank having bought £112 billion-worth ($184 billion) of government and corporate debt by the end of last month.
