US racks up biggest ever June deficit

The United States budget deficit for last month broke a monthly record for June, figures released by the Treasury on Monday showed.

The shortfall for June was $94.32 billion, taking the deficit for the fiscal year to $1.09 trillion. The fiscal year began in October. The shortfall was broadly in line with analysts' expectations. The all-time record high for one month is $194 billion - reached in February.
