Russian central bank to remain independent

RUSSIA - The working group for amendment of the law, "On the Central Bank", advocated retention of the independent status of the Central Bank.

During its meeting the group decided to return to discussion of the Presidential amendment on the granting of the status of a state-run institution to the Central Bank. The majority of members of the group advocated the preserving of the bill, "On Amendments and Additions to the Federal Law on the Central Bank", passed by the Duma in the first reading
