France c bank strike may leave cash machines empty

Industrial action by staff at French central bank the Bank of France could leave ATMs short of notes.

Strike action at the Bank of France is part of a protest against plans by the central bank to authorise private sector money transporters to recycle currency. The employees, who are picketing branches, are also protesting against restructuring plans at the bank, which will see 2,637 jobs cut by 2006.
