Noyer: E european c banks should aim for growth

POLAND - Central banks in countries seeking to join the European Union should ensure that their battle against inflation doesn't harm economic growth, a senior official at the European Central Bank said in a speech on Monday 15 October.

Speaking in Warsaw, ECB Vice President Christian Noyer said that while candidate countries should aim to bring inflation rates down to E.U. levels over the medium term, that shouldn't be done in ways that slow down the "catching up" process by which per capita
