ECB gets a queen for the day

The red carpet was rolled out last week in Frankfurt when Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands paid a visit to the European Central Bank.

Her Majesty met with President Wim Duisenberg and other members of the Executive Board for what the ECB described as an exchange of views on current issues. She also met the ECB's Dutch members of staff and was accompanied on her visit by the President of De Nederlandsche Bank, Nout Wellink.

The visit could not have been timed more finely with Dutchman Duisenberg
