Hole-in-the-wall headache behind euro big day

ARTICLE - With the deadline for the introduction into circulation of euro notes less than five months away, Europe is facing its greatest logistical challenge since the D-Day landings.

Appropriately, this new challenge is "E-day". The logistics of safely delivering 14.5bn euro notes and 50bn euro coins with a total value of more than e664bn (£415bn) to banks and post offices across Europe before the 1 January deadline is testing the administrative skills of each of the 12 euro-zone governments.
