RBI names Rakesh Mohan as deputy governor

The Economic Affairs Secretary, Rakesh Mohan, has been appointed as a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and is likely to be in charge of the monetary policy department, an official was quoted as saying on Wednesday 29 June.

"The order for Dr. Rakesh Mohan's appointment has been issued," the central bank spokeswoman said.

Mohan was a central bank deputy governor until 1 November 2004, when he moved to the finance ministry.
