Ex-Fed's Volcker demands regulatory overhaul

Paul Volcker, a former chairman of the Federal Reserve, has urged regulators to enhance supervision on both a national and international level in the aftermath of the global turmoil.

"The financial turmoil that has unfolded over the last year has tested the ability of regulatory authorities to respond effectively top financial crises," said Volcker, speaking in his role as chairman of the Group of Thirty's (G30) board of trustees - a consultative group on international economic and monetary
