Peru inflation on target - new governor

The new governor of Peru's central bank, Javier Silva Ruete, expects inflation of 1.5 to 1.7% for the year, comfortably below the government's target of 2.5%, reports Reuters

Silva Ruete, who was economy minister until last month, was ratified in his new post by Congress late Tuesday. He succeeds Richard Webb, who quit last month after differences with members of the bank's board. Officials said they did not expect the change to affect Peru's monetary policy.
