Norges Bank reduces interest rates

Norges Bank's Executive Board decided on Wednesday to reduce the sight deposit interest rate by 0.25 percentage point to 2.00 per cent with effect from 29 January.

According to Norges Bank's assessment, with a sight deposit rate of 2.00 per cent at present, the probability that inflation two years ahead will be lower than 2 ½ per cent is greater than the probability that it will be higher.

It brings rates in Norway, which is not a member of the European Union, into line with the euro zone.
