DNB's Wellink says 'no risk from M&A'

Dutch central bank president Nout Wellink said Wednesday 9 May he believes ABN Amro is an extremely strong bank and that customers should not fear a takeover.

'The DNB will ensure that the interests of (ABN Amro) customers will remain safely looked after under any new circumstances', Wellink said on Dutch news programme NOS Journaal.

He was responding to recent reports ABN Amro customers are concerned about what the outcome of the current M&A process will mean to them.
