Solbes warns on rising euro danger

European Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pedro Solbes said Friday that the continued appreciation of the euro could affect business confidence in the eurozone.

Solbes told a conference in Madrid, "The strong appreciation of the euro, if it continues, could entail a decline in the confidence of company bosses and reduce the competitiveness" of the eurozone.

He added "As exports have until now helped boost growth, it will be crucial that domestic demand become the growth engine".
