Slovak central bank sees 2008 euro date possible

Slovakia's central bank has said that 2008 is a realistic date for the country to introduce the euro.

The National Bank of Slovakia [NBS] and the government will present their strategy for the introduction of the euro in the second half of the year.

NBS Vice Governor Elena Kohutikova confirmed that the NBS considered the year 2008 a realistic date for the introduction of the euro. In her opinion, Slovakia could possibly join the eurozone before its neighbours but it cannot
