Guatemala says GDP to grow 3.9 percent in 2001

Bank of Guatemala President Lizardo Sosa said Dec 19 the Central American nation's slumbering economy would pick up speed in 2001, growing 3.9 percent compared to 3.3 percent in 2000.The central banker's 2000 forecast was up from his forecast of 3.0 percent growth this year made in October.
