Eurozone inflation eases to 2.4% in June

Eurozone inflation fell slightly in June to 2.4 percent on a 12-month basis from 2.5 percent in May, final data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat showed on Friday 16 July.

But the June figure was far higher than inflation in June of last year which was 1.9 percent.

The latest figure is also significantly above the medium-term ceiling target of 2.0 percent set by the European Central Bank.

The main force behind the increase has been the rise of oil prices since the beginning of this year
