Santomero - Fed's ability to mend econ is limited

US - The Federal Reserve, which engaged in a nearly solitary struggle to keep the U.S. economy from collapsing last year, isn't capable of mending the economy on its own, a top policymaker for the U.S. central bank said Saturday.

Anthony Santomero, a member of the Fed's policymaking Federal Open Market Committee, suggested in a speech to economists that public expectations of the Fed's abilities tend to be unrealistic.
