Focus on Weber, the Bundesbank's surprise choice

Little was known about economics professor Axel Weber, the German government's surprise choice to head the Bundesbank this week, who told a news conference on Wednesday 21 April that he jogs to relax.

Born on March 8, 1957 in Kusel in the Rhineland Palatinate, Weber will be the youngest Bundesbank president in history.

Weber studied economic and administrative sciences at the university of Constance in southern Germany, graduating in 1982.

He received a doctorate from Siegen university in 1987 and
