Eurozone inflation dip may smooth ECB move

EUROPE - Annual inflation in the eurozone dipped to 2.4 per cent last month from 2.5 per cent in September, according to a provisional estimate released Monday.

The figure, which was in line with market expectations, means that inflation is back at the level at which it stood last January, after having risen to an eight-year peak of 3.4 per cent in May.

Economists said the estimate was unlikely to be a decisive factor for the European Central Bank when it meets on Thursday to decide whether to cut
