Sarkinas: no policy change until after mid-2001

The Bank of Lithuania on Monday reiterated that decisions about the planned repegging of the national currency, the litas, from the US dollar to the euro would not be made until the second half of 2001.

The position was reaffirmed during Monday's meeting between the central bank officials and experts of the International Monetary Fund, who are wrapping up their one-week mission to Vilnius on Tuesday.
