Poland's c bank head concerned over debt-GDP ratio

POLAND - Central Bank President Leszek Balcerowicz expressed concern over the growth of public debt in relation to GDP while speaking to Radio One in Poland on 29 August.

The Finance Ministry predicts that in 2003 public debt increased by sureties and guarantees will grow to 52.3 per cent of the GDP from 49.8 per cent predicted for 2002.

According to a related report presented at the Tuesday government meeting public debt will exceed 50 per cent of GDP if the state does not earn on privatization
