Tax havens act to avoid sanctions

CARIBBEAN - Some Caribbean tax havens are tightening anti-money laundering rules in an attempt to avoid punitive action threatened by the world's biggest economies.

The Financial Action Task Force, a body set up by the G7 group of industrialised nations, will meet this week to consider the fate of 15 financial centres blacklisted last year as uncooperative in the fight against money laundering.
