Russian deputy: CB should keep oversight function

The Russian central bank should not be stripped of its oversight functions, first deputy chairman Gennady Melikian told a press conference on Thursday 15 March.

"There's nothing to confirm in practice that stripping the CB of these functions would result in effective oversight," Melikian said.

"At some stage, when conglomerates have the ascendancy, a single structure might be able to exercise effective oversight," Melikian said. In the meantime, "until there's some order, there's no need for that
