US economists quarrel with Fed rate stance-NABE

UNITED STATES - A survey of the Federal Reserve's policies over the past six months showed that a growing number of US economists fear the central bank has not cut interest rate cuts enough.

The survey by the National Association for Business Economics was taken in early March, prior to the Fed's Mar 20, 2001 interest rate-setting meeting, at which it reduced interest rates by a half-percentage point. The move marked the third rate reduction by the U.S. central bank in 2001.
