Poland's c bank boosts reserves by $165m in April

POLAND - The announcement made by the National Bank of Poland (NBP), that it will boost reserves by $165m, signifies that Poland's reserve assets on the last day of April accounted for $27,224bn and were $660m higher than on 31 December 2001.

Since the previous month NBP reports have been highlighting certain elements of the total liabilities of public institutions, such as the central bank's debt to the Social Insurance Board (ZUS), healthcare funds, and other funds managed by them. The net debt of the governmental sector amounted to ZL3.7bn in April compared to ZL1.2bn a month earlier. In comparison with March the amount of reserve money saw a slight decrease of ZL3.2bn.
