France's Raffarin sees 2.5 % GDP growth in 2004

French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said he expects GDP growth of 2.5 per cent in 2004 and said that economic growth is sustainable.

"We can seriously expect 2.5 per cent for the year," Raffarin said on French RTL radio.

Raffarin also said he plans to lift the tax rebate for 8.5 m French people on low incomes by 4 per cent .

Finance Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said last month that French GDP growth "should reach around 2.5 per cent in 2004."
